How Many Hours?

How many hours have you been sewing in 2008? The Wacky Pack quilters have decided to track our sewing time in 2008. We thought it would be interesting to see just how much time we spent sewing during the year.

So far, as of today, I have sewed a total of 81.5 hours. Now at first that seemed like a lot to me, but when I thought about having attended two quilting retreats, that doesn't seem like too much. I know that I may have missed a few hours here and there, but evidentally I must have talked a lot during the retreats! Ya think? Me????

You may wish to track your sewing time -- it's not too late to begin.

WOW!! I wonder if I'm that close to 80 hours, I wouldn't doubt it....how do you keep track? I have a journal, where I put the start time, but never the ending time of sewing :D I need to get better at that!

That is exactly what I do....I have a little journal that I just jot down the date and start/stop time that I sew. I know sometimes, I'm not real accurate, but I figure it is pretty close.

I hope to actually SEW more this year than look through patterns/fabrics!!! I have a spot where I can keep my machine set up at all times and usually sew in 5-10 minute bits and pieces - here and there and it does add up... but probably not anywhere near 80 hours this past month. Congrats!

Cheers!

Oh my goodness- if I had to keep track. LOL - it would be hard as most days I spend 9-3 with the machines on- but then I get bored and start surfing the net. So if we say I actually sew 4 hours 6 days a week.( but we know it's more as I sew by hand at night)I'm at 96 . Please don't tell hubby that number or he'll make me get a job!!!!

I started keeping track last summer after reading about it on someone's blog. I have a stopwatch on my phone that I can start and stop so when I sit down to sew I start it and if I have to get up (or get engaged in conversation) I hit the stop button. It makes it really easy to keep a running total for each day. I have a little spiral notebook where I log the final amount for each day and tally it at the end of the month.

My goal is at least 3 hours per day, I find that making that goal helps as on days where I otherwise might not fit in much sewing time, I look for ways to squeeze in time here and there.

Happy quilting!
