December Doings!

I haven't posted in a few days. Sometimes life just gets in the way. The first week of the month is always busy for me. I am the Director of Senior Services/Transit for our County. I have to make many different reports to our County, Area Agency on Aging, Rural Transportation, etc. I've been coming in from work in the evenings and just taking it easy! I have been doing a few things so I thought I'd give a little recap of what I've been doing.
This is a picture of the Miniature Booty Swap -- "Holiday Edition" finished quilt. This little quilt has been mailed to my partner (I can't say the name--shhhhh--she should be getting it any day now) but I had not posted a picture on my blog.
This is another picture up-close of the Miniature Booty Swap.
Those of you that know me, know that I love chickens and roosters. I found this Jim Shore rooster on Ebay. They no longer make this rooster so I was really excited to get him. He stands approximately 2-3 feet tall. My sister-in-law (another fowl lover) found one on Ebay and she stopped bidding at $70. I got this handsome young man for only $43!!!! I have also won a bid on a rooster holding a chalkboard. He is really cute too. I should be receiving him any day as the seller has already shipped.
The following picture is a "sneak peak" of the Spring Fling Roundrobin -- Session II. Each mini quilt has four rounds -- the center, 1st border, 2nd border and quilter. I was the quilter of this quilt. The quilt has been quilted, bound and label stitched on. This quilt will be sent to the final recipient in tomorrow's mail. I can't show the complete quilt until it is received by its owner. This is my second time to participate in this roundrobin and it has been sew much fun. I sure hope we "do it again".

I've also been doing some hand embroidery on my Nice People Nice Things project but haven't taken any pictures! Maybe I'll get some photos taken this week.
I hope each of you have a great week and are enjoying this Holiday Season. I only have 3 more gifts to purchase and I'll be done! YEA! As you are out in the hustle and bustle, always remember "the reason for the season" -- the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ!

Spring Fling Roundrobin II

This is the quilt I received today from the Spring Fling Roundrobin II. It is wonderful and I am sew proud to receive it. It is made with my favorite -- Civil War fabrics in lovely shades of pink/brown.
The center was made by Carol of Vermont; the 1st border by Susan of Arizona, 2nd border by Julia of Idaho, and the handquilting and binding by Alicia of Washington. THANK YOU LADIES!

Spring Fling Round Robin

I have been participating in the Spring Fling Round Robin that Margaret is hosting. It has really been fun. We each were paired up with 3 other partners. We each made a center and then the center traveled on and had two borders added. The fourth person had the responsibility to quilt, bind and put the label on the quilt. Then the fourth person sent the finished quilt on to some lucky person.

I've been trying all weekend to upload a picture but Blogger and I are having "issues"! I think it could be because I'm on "dial-up". Sometimes I can upload pictures and sometimes I can't -- go figure. Anyway, you can go to the link above "Spring Fling Round Robin" and go to the post "Leaving Texas" to see the quilt I finished!

A big thank you to Margaret who is our hostess. She does a great job!!!!!!

What A Weekend!

This has been a really good weekend. I had my own little personal retreat. You see, my DH is out of town, so I can do whatever I want to! I feel like I have got a lot accomplished. It started Friday evening after work when I spent the evening finishing up my round on the Spring Fling Round Robin and working on my applique and watching TV. That was a very relaxing evening.

On Saturday, one of my Wacky Pac Sisters and I went to Tyler to A Nimble Thimble quilt shop to attend embroidery club. We are learning machine embroidery applique. We are working on the pattern "Tulip Time" by Smith Street Designs. It was a great class.

Today, I spent most of the day out in my studio working on the Wacky Pac String Block Swap. We are making string blocks (3 each) for each person. I have completed 12 blocks (for 4 people) -- boy that feels good. Hope to get some more completed during the week.

I have pictures, but ya know, my camera was left out in my quilting studio (which is separate from my house) and I'm not going out there in the dark to get it so I'll post pics later in the week.

This is going be a very busy work week for me (meetings, meetings, meetings!), but it will go fast and I will be spending the weekend at the Fryer Deer Camp sewing with my Wacky Pac Sisters. I can't wait!

I hope all of my blogging friends have a great week!!!

Spring Fling Round Robin

Well, I did it! I was 'blog surfing" and came across the "Spring Fling Round Robin". I just recently completed a 12-month round robin and it was sew much fun that I decided to join in on this RR. It is a much smaller quilt and a smaller timeframe! I think it will be fun. Margaret is hosting this and I'm really excited. I wish I knew how to add a link to her site -- here it is in case you would like to join: http://springflingroundrobin2008.blogspot.com/
